Guest Blog: Glamorous Waves by Jen Atkin

Khloe Kardashian's Glamorous Waves

I wanted to bring out Khloe’s glamorous side with this look; a take on old Hollywood brushed out waves. To get this look at home, start with the right foundation. I love Clear Scalp and Hair BeautyTherapy’s Color and Damage Repair Shampoo and Conditioner. It strengthens hair that’s been damaged from heat styling or coloring, but doesn’t weigh it down.

  • After washing, blow dry hair full with a large round brush.
  • Set a deep side part, and begin curling sections with a large barreled curling iron. For these waves, use T3′s Tourmaline 1 & 1/4 inch Curling Wand. It heats up quickly, which is great for getting hair wavey without having to leave heat on it for too long.
  • After your hair is curled, use a Sonia Kashuk brush to brush out the curls to give it a lot of body.
  • Finish with Oribe Superfine Hairspray.
  • You can polish the look further by tucking one side behind your ear, depending on your style.

Guest Blog: Jen Atkin on My Boho Braided Look

Khloe Kardashian Wears Braided Updo
I loved Khloe’s dress this day, and I wanted to keep with that romantic, soft look in styling her hair. This style is best the day (or even two days) after you have it blown out with loose curls. Add a little dry shampoo (I love Klorane’s Dry Shampoo) at your roots to absorb any excess oil and have your bobby pins ready!

  • Start by spraying Charlotte Ronson’s A Perfect Mess Beach Hair Spray. It will help keep and enhance any texture or wave you have in your hair.
  • Tease hair at the crown, and braid all your hair into four braids. Two in the front and two in the back.
  • Secure braids with small elastics. Then, one braid at a time, wrap and pin braids around your hair. Let pieces fall around your face for a soft look.
  • Finish with a light veil of Oribe Superfine Hairspray just to keep everything in place. Keep a couple spare bobby pins in your bag, just in case you need to re-pin any pieces.

Guest Blog: Seeing Stars by Jen Atkin

Khloe Kardashian Wears Star Hair Piece

For this look, Khloe wanted to incorporate a fun headpiece. The shapes in the piece would look great with a little texture around it, so if you have a head piece at home, try this look out. If you are looking for some inspiration or the right piece, Jennifer Behr’s line of hair accessories are always gorgeous.

  • I love starting hair fresh from washing it. My favorite for this look is Clear Scalp and Hair Beauty Therapy’s Volumizing Root Boost because it nourishes hair from roots to ends, and also gives your hair great body and fullness.
  • After washing, blowdry hair and let your natural texture come out.
  • Use a medium sized curling iron to curl large sections of your hair.
  • Mist a little Oribe Superfine Hairspray for movable hold.
  • Twist two sections of your hair away and back from your face and secure with a small elastic band.
  • Then pin or clip your accessory to your hair and pull a couple pieces over it for a loose, soft look.

Guest Blog: Jen Atkin on My Half-Up Half-Down ‘Do

Khloe Kardashian's Fun and Flirty Hairstyle
Khloe is so much fun to work with because she is always willing to try out new things. This half-up half-down style can be tricky because it can come across as too formal. The trick is in keeping the waves as messy and undone as possible. Here are a few tips on how to get this look at home.

  • Rough dry your hair upside down to get as much body and natural texture as possible. You don’t need to take a brush to it.
  • Once dry, work with your natural texture, and take a large barreled curling iron to large sections of your hair. For this look in particular, I love Sarah Potempa’s Beachwaver. It’s great at waving hair quickly, but giving you that beachy, undone look.
  • As you curl, tug the sections downward to keep the wave loose and natural.
  • Spray Oribe Dry Texture Spray throughout hair and secure a small ponytail, from the temples back away from the face.

Guest Blog: Sleek Style by Jen Atkin

Khloe Kardashian Sleek Straight Hair
It’s time for another hair how-to from the gorgeous Jen Atkin!

Sleek Style

  • To get Khloe’s sleek look, I believe that you have to start with the right foundation. I recommend using Clear Scalp and Hair Beauty Therapy’s Frizz Control Shampoo and Conditioner. It not only nourishes the scalp but helps give your hair a great shine and smooth finish.
  • After washing, rough dry hair almost all the way and finish with a round brush for sleek ends.
  • Flat iron hair using a Chi Flat Iron, mid-lengths to ends. This helps keep the fullness at the roots.
  • Set a deep side part and secure with bobby pins. I love showing the pins for that edgy yet chic runway look.
  • Tame fly-aways with a light veil of Oribe Superfine Hairspray.

Guest Blog: Jen Atkin Adds a Pop of Color!

Khloe Kardashian Adds a Pop of Color to Her Hair
My loves, please welcome back my fabulous hairstylist, Jen Atkin! She will be doing a bunch of guest blogs over the next few weeks with step-by-step guides on how to achieve some of the recent styles she’s done on me.

Pop of Color!

My good friend Rita Hazan is an amazing colorist who developed Pop Color Temporary Color Hair Sprays. They are a great way to add a pop of color to your hair without the commitment. They wash right out! I couldn’t wait to try them out on Khloe once I got my hands on them. Here are a few easy steps to get this look!

  • Blowdry hair with a round brush to smooth out hair. You can use a flat iron if needed to smooth hair out if needed after blowdrying.
  • Set a deep side part, and tuck the parted side away, behind the ear.
  • Use a dime sized amount of Osmo Clay Wax to smooth hair out at the roots for a polished look.
  • Lastly, pick your favorite color from Rita Hazan Pop Color Spray; pink, blue or purple. I thought it would be fun to fill in Khloe’s side part with the blue. This is a great product to have fun with, so pick up your favorite color.
