Charity of the Week: Cathy’s Kids

For this week’s charity, I’ve decided to highlight the one my wonderful hubby started — Cathy’s Kids.

Cathy’s Kids focusses on improving the lives of underprivileged children by providing them with the resources necessary for a successful future, such as books, computers, recreational opportunities and mentoring and tutoring services.

Every time I see him working with his charity I fall more and more in love with him. He’s made me a better person and has taught me that anyone can make a difference if you have the desire and the passion to do so.

Charity of the Week: A Home in Haiti

It hasn’t even been four months since Haiti’s life altering earthquake, yet it seems as though people have moved on from the topic and simply forgotten.  Thousands are still suffering in Haiti — homeless, sick and hungry, and we need to continue to offer help in any way we can.

Haiti’s hurricane season is just days away, and it breaks my heart to imagine so many families without shelter, which is why I’m asking all of you to look into buying a tent for a Haitian family. The tents range from $150-$300 and a great way to contribute without breaking the bank is by getting together with a few people and splitting the costs.

Time may have passed but the lives of thousands in Haiti are still in ruins.  Please help!

Please Donate Blood!!!

Khloe-Kardashian-Memorial-Blood-Drive-022510.jpg

Hi dolls. For those of you that live in the LA area, I wanted to spread the word about a blood drive coming up in support of a very important cause.  The drive is being held in honor of Vahagn Setian and Daniel Levian, two young people who were killed in a tragic drunk driving accident just over a year ago.

The drive will take place on March 22 from 10am-4pm at the Beverly Hills Public Library in the 2nd floor auditorium. Go to www.mysignup.com/memorialblooddrive to sign up.

I hope a lot of you go and donate — it only takes up a few minutes of your time and the people you will be helping in the end makes it all worth it! xoxoxo

Changing the World One Blog at a Time

One of my favorite things to do in my free time is to interact with my Twitter fam and answer as many questions as I can. I love that through Twitter I can talk to my fans and see what they’re up to, which is what led me to this particular blog post.

I recently saw a tweet from a college student named Joey Parker asking me to check out his blog that he started last month. The Joey Parker Movement documents the time he spent in Africa and shares photos and stories from his experiences there. It definitely hit a soft spot for me after seeing firsthand the devastating conditions in Africa when I went with Kim and Reggie.

Supporting the Stop of Puppy Mills!

Lamar and I went to NSF & GQ Magazine’s Stop Puppy Mills Humane Society benefit on Tuesday night.  As an animal lover, it was important for me to go after hearing about the disgusting ways in which these puppy mills operate.

Puppy mills are dog breeding facilities where puppies are bred in horrible conditions until they’re sold or auctioned off to pet stores. The puppies are confined to tiny cages, often three or four to a cage. Nobody walks them or plays with them; they’re just kept in those cages suffering until they’re sold. The time that these innocent creatures spend in these facilities can be permanently damaging, both mentally and physically, and a change has to be made.

The Humane Society’s is big on using education as a means to stop the operations of puppy mills in our country. The more people that are aware of the situation, the better chance we have at stopping this practice and the conditions in which these poor, adorable puppies live.

Go to the Humane Society’s website for more information and/or to donate to the cause.

Keeping Up WIth Khloe: The Wedding Dress Sale!

Thanks to everyone who came to the celebrity wedding dress sale last week. It was a little crazed, but definitely a lot of fun. Tom Green was there and he put on a dress himself. It was hilarious — and it didn’t look too bad on him either!! LOL.

We also had some fun trying on the dresses and running around. I hope you enjoy those photos because sadly I won’t be putting on a wedding dress for real in quite a while :( — although that didn’t stop some shoppers from offering to take me down the aisle!! LOL

It was so fun to raise money for charity while meeting women shopping for wedding dresses! I loved seeing everyone’s face when they really found a dress they wanted to wear on their big day!!!!!! What a fun day! Thank you to everyone who came out to support me and raise money for charity!!!! I love you guys!

Celebrity Bridal Gown Sale in New York City!

khloe-kardashian-wedding-dresses-charity-101008.jpg

Hey everyone! I have another great charity event for you New Yorkers! Are any of you shopping for wedding dresses? Do you know someone who is? Or do you just want to buy a wedding dress from an amazing celebrity woman? LOL  Now this is a competition and there will be another celebrity team competing right next door. Please come down to help us out! Come buy from ME only :) I love you guys!!!

Just some thoughts, but these dresses are perfect for other occasions besides weddings. I’ve seen them and they would make amazing dresses for Quinceaneras, Winter formals, Bat Mitzvahs, or they would even make a great Halloween costume! Since it is for charity you can write it off on your taxes — or if you buy one and then donate it you can write it off twice!!

We only have 125 gowns to sell, and they are all beautiful! They will be for sale tomorrow from 11:00am – 2:00pm at 125 West 21st Street. I’d love to sell you a dress if you come by, and of course, all proceeds go to charity!!

Giving Back: The Brent Shapiro Foundation

Hey dolls! I love doing charity work! Really, I just love to help people and show that I care. When a charity is close to your heart you should do as much as you can for them. Speaking about causes and charities alone can be so helpful!

I wanted to share one of my favorite charities with you all. It’s the Brent Shapiro Foundation For Alcohol and Drug Awareness. I love this charity for so many reasons, but my main reason is that the organization is so passionate about informing parents and children about these diseases. They have so many different techniques in teaching and they are in the process of creating a program for colleges and high schools too. The foundation wants to help you before there is a problem. This charity was founded by Robert Shapiro, who was a great friend of my father, after his 25-year-old son, Brent, tragically died after an alcohol and drug-induced coma. Here is his story.

Alcohol and drug dependence is an issue that is growing to epidemic proportions. Please check out The Brent Shapiro Foundation website. There is so much important information there. I encourage you to read it and reach out to those in your life who are suffering from the effects of substance abuse. Tragic stories like that of Brent can be prevented! Dont be afraid to save a life! Take care of the ones you love!!

What are some of your favorite chairities? Or things that you guys are passionate about?
