Happy Friday dolls!!!!!!! Kim, Kourt and I recently did a segment with Extreme Makeover. We threw an anti-bully rally for the Walker family — a family whose son was the victim of bullying and took his own life as a result of it. I am honored to to have been given the opportunity to meet and work with a family who turned such a tragic, horrible event into something positive by trying to help others. I was bullied as a teen and I know how hard it was back then — I can’t imagine bullying in this day and age where social media is so huge. Now bullies attack from all angles. (more…)
Bullies Need to Get a Life!
Lately I’ve been hearing a lot of horror stories about bullying and I wanted to take a moment to vent my frustrations about the issue. I’m sure most of you have heard about Phoebe Prince, a teenage girl who hung herself after constantly being badgered by kids at school. I also heard about an eleven-year-old boy who took his life as well after being bullied by his peers. The number of bullying-related suicides is increasing by the year and these stories truly break my heart. I wasn’t bullied in school but I was made fun of because I was fat. Thank God I had older sisters who the minute I told them what had happened would actually show up at my school to scare the kids, but not everyone has that. I have also always had thick skin — even now the media can often be bullies but I am older now and I can take it. The difference is that today these kids are given so many different outlets to bully. When I was a child and being teased, we didn’t have Twitter, Facebook or MySpace so bullying only went on during school hours. Now kids go to school and are tortured, and they come home and still have to deal with it online — there’s no escape. Continue reading after the jump…
