This past Saturday my mom and I went down to Cal State Fullerton to help bring awareness to the Donate Life Run/Walk. Just recently I became an organ donor and I am sooo happy I did. It is so easy to sign up too!!! You can either go to the DMV and check the box or you can do it online at DonateLifeCalifornia.org.
For every one person that signs up to be a donor, eight lives can be saved with the donation of their organs and 50 can be helped with the donation of tissue.
At the Run/Walk I met and spoke to so many amazing, brave people who were either recipients of a transplant or were donors. This really inspired me to reach out to more people and try to recruit donors! Please become an organ donor or at least go to the website and find out a little more about it!
As moving as the event was, it was also SO much fun!!! There were rides, great music, and awesome people!!! Manny on the Streets and I went on all the rides together and Chikezi from American Idol performed. I had a blast!

THANK YOU so much for posting a blog on this topic. I too, just became an organ donor last year. My best friend received a double lung/pancreas transplant in 2006 from having Cystic Fibrosis. Although he did pass a way last year (it’ll be a year on Thursday :(), he did get to live almost two years longer with his new lungs. If he would not have received them, he would have passed a lot sooner. He got a blood infection that took his life. Organ donation is soooo important.

I just wanted to share that I think it’s so amazing that you took time out of your busy schedule to do this. My dad died suddenly of a heart attack about 3 weeks ago, he was only 59. This situation is absolutely heartbreaking and miserable, but he was an organ donor and the donor center called and told me his organs were able to help 50+ other people and thinking about that helps bring a little light to such a tragic loss. You are an incredible person!!!
