Cooking For World AIDS Day!

Hi dolls. In light of World Aids Day today, I volunteered at Project Angel Food with a group of MAC makeup artists to put together meals for those living with the AIDS virus.  Project Angel Food is a local organization that delivers more than 11,000 nutritious and free meals to those suffering from life-threatening illnesses, including cancer and HIV/AIDS.  It’s the only charity in LA County that gives daily free meals to those in need, while others charge for such services.

It was a great experience and a wonderful cause that I was honored to have the opportunity to work with.  It’s so important that we all take the time to give back.  If you can’t go out and volunteer today, stop by your local MAC store and purchase a VIVA GLAM  product because the MAC AIDS Fund will match dollar-for-dollar the sales for all Viva Glam lipstick and lipglass which are sold for $14.

While Project Angel Food has plenty of loyal volunteers, they could ALWAYS use more!  To find out how YOU can make a difference, go to www.projectangelfood.org, or you can get more info on their Facebook Fanpage.  Every little thing helps :)

Also, for those of you who like to cook, I signed this apron and want to give it away here on my site.  In order to win, tell me in a comment what you do to get in the giving spirit, no matter how small it may be!

To help others I go with my church to different parts of Mexico and take school supplies, toys, food, clothing, and help build better homes for those in need. I also donate blood at least twice a year, and run a food bank here at my church to help those families that need it most. I think every little bit helps!

Hey Khloe, to get in the giving spirit I work with two different extremes. I work for the Women, Infants, and Children organization here in Missouri and baby-sit for low-income families for free so that they can get out and have some time away from their kids even when they can’t afford it. I also spend time with geriatric patients in nursing homes, I call Bingo for them, and listen to their stories. I love hearing 80 year old women telling me about their “crazy hippie days”. It’s fun to see both age groups, and knowing that they both benefit from simple attention. I’m so happy that you took part in Operation Angel Food. Everyday people like myself and the others to comment here can do our part to make a difference, but when someone with a recognizable name gets out and does it, it’s 10 times more effective because it inspires as well. Thanks so much for reading, and considering me to win you apron! Bible. :)

Funny that you ask. Today I began setting a goal for myself. At least do one good deed per day. Today, I dontated blood. Tomorrow- not sure yet but possibly buying a toy for a child in need.

I try to help out with what means I have whenever I see someone in need, Our family may be poor to some but to some, our family has it all, a home, cars, food, ect. Saturday afternoon, there was a knock on our front door and there was a young kid, 19 years old, standing there. He asked me if he could rake our leaves (we don’t have any trees) to earn some money or a bite to eat. I asked him if he was hungry and he said yes, so I welcomed him in, fixed him a HUGE plate of Thanksgiving leftovers, egg nog, hot coffee, pumpkin pie, the works, and my son and I sat down at the table with him and talked for awhile. When we went to church the next day, our pastor talked about the good Samaritan in the Bible and it really hit home for my kids. It was a great feeling to have an actual event to use as an example of how a small act of kindness goes a long way. I hope that my small act of kindness put a flame in the heart of my children to do the same in their lives. If each and every one of us did one kind thing for just one person, imagine how much better the world would be?

Hey DOLL! You look fab. I love how you give back!!

Earlier this year, I started volunteering with Give Kids the World. It is a wonderful place for kids with terminal illnesses and their families to come fulfill the child’s final wish and get their minds off of everything for an entire week. Volunteering there makes me realize how blessed most of us are. It is super humbling. You should come to Orlando and visit Give Kids the World Village! It is seriously so much fun!
